Reasons to try Pilates

Over the last 15 years since I started Pilates what I get from it changes depending on what's happening in my life and my health and fitness goals at any given time. There are many benefits and many reasons to give it a try, this list is not exclusive!


  • To improve strength and flexibility. Maybe the most obvious thing that comes to mind when thinking of the benefits of Pilates! Pilates is a low impact form of exercise focussing on maximising range of movement at your joints and improving core stability.

  • To reduce stress and improve mental health. Practicing Pilates is mindful and builds a mind - body connection which is so important for good mental health.

  • To improve balance and coordination. By building core strength and better body awareness Pilates will improve balance and coordination.

  • To improve posture. By improving core strength and alignment and increasing awareness Pilates will help posture both in sitting and standing.

  • To improve breathing pattern. Pilates encourages deeper breathing and using the breath to facilitate movement.
